Walking Your Way to Wellness

Think you don’t have time to exercise? Think again. With a good pair of walking shoes and minutes a day, you can lose weight, gain energy, improve cardiovascular health and stave off chronic disease.

Walking is a convenient way to get fit and can be done virtually anywhere at any time and in any kind of weather.

While most experts recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week, you can easily split those minutes into shorter walking segments to fit them into your day. Combining those ten minutes before you head into the office, ten minutes at lunch and ten minutes after work can be just as effective as one longer workout.

Walking is the simplest way to boost fitness levels, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes aches, pains or strains hamper your stride and make walking more difficult. Dr. Rawlings is ready to help evaluate your gait and determine if your bones, joints and ligaments are in proper alignment. His passion for wellness means that he can help you determine the best ways to reach your overall fitness goals by working with you to develop an effective walking program.

Get started on a path to better health just steps away from Dr. Rawlings’ office as you walk the 2.3 mile Jeffrey Open Space Trail starting at Trabuco and Jeffrey Roads. You’ll probably meet other members of the Irvine Health Center family while you’re out there!
